BCT-700 High Rate Discharge Tester 450A 12V

A professional high rate discharge tester with four selectable loads — 100A, 175A, 300A and 450A. Applies a real resistive load like a starter motor, so you see how the battery behaves under stress rather than at rest.

Product Overview

The BCT-700 high rate discharge tester is built for Indian workshops that want a rugged, simple instrument with a bright LED voltmeter and clear status lights.

Rather than guessing from open-circuit voltage, you test the battery under a controlled high-current load that behaves like a starter motor. Use it for cars, SUVs, pick-ups, light commercial vehicles and inverter batteries running 12V lead-acid — flooded, AGM or EFB.

Why a multimeter is not enough: a battery at rest can read 12.6V and look healthy while collapsing the moment the starter draws current. A high rate discharge load exposes that hidden weakness.

Key Features

  • Four selectable loads — 100A, 175A, 300A and 450A cover small hatchbacks through heavy-duty banks.
  • Real load simulation — a resistive element that behaves like a starter motor draw.
  • LED voltmeter — bright digital display, powered by the battery under test.
  • Status LEDs — green, yellow and red for an immediate verdict.
  • Built for Indian conditions — metal body, heavy clamps and cabling.

Choosing the right load setting

Rule of thumb: load roughly 3× the battery Ah rating, held for 10 seconds.

VehicleAh rangeLoad setting
Small / mid car30–50 Ah100A
Sedan / compact SUV55–70 Ah175A
Large SUV / inverter75–200 Ah300A
Heavy duty / high CCA200 Ah+450A

If you are unsure, start at a lower setting and increase. Not for lithium (Li-ion / LiFePO₄) or 24V systems.

How to use the high rate discharge tester

  1. Charge and rest the battery

The battery should be reasonably charged and at rest with no load for a few minutes.

  2. Connect the clamps

Red to positive (+), black to negative (−). Keep contact firm.

  3. Select the load

Match the setting to the battery size using the table above.

  4. Hold the load for 10 seconds

Watch the LED voltmeter while the load is applied.

  5. Read the status LED

Release the load and allow about 60 seconds of cooling before the next test.

Reading the verdict

Status LEDConditionAction

RedBadReplace

A healthy battery holds its voltage steady through the 10 seconds. A sharp sag indicates a weak or failing battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which load setting should I use?

Roughly three times the battery Ah rating. 100A for 30–50Ah small cars, 175A for 55–70Ah sedans and compact SUVs, 300A for 75–200Ah SUVs and inverter batteries, and 450A for 200Ah+ heavy duty or high CCA batteries. If unsure, start lower and increase.

Can I test 24V truck batteries with the BCT-700?

No. The BCT-700 is for 12V batteries only. On 24V trucks running two 12V batteries in series, disconnect the link and test each battery separately at 12V.

What battery types are supported?

12V lead-acid batteries used in automotive and inverter applications: flooded, AGM and EFB. Not for lithium or LiFePO₄.

How long should I hold the load?

Hold the load for 10 seconds while watching the voltmeter, then release and allow about 60 seconds of cooling before the next test.

How do I read the result?

The BCT-700 gives a verdict through three status LEDs: green for good, yellow for weak, and red for bad. A healthy battery holds its voltage under load; a sharp drop indicates a weak or failing battery.

What is the price and delivery?

₹11,211 with GST included, dispatched from Delhi with free delivery across India. One year carry-in warranty. Dealer and bulk discounts available.

What is a high rate discharge (HRD) test?

An HRD test applies a heavy current draw — far above normal use — for a fixed time, usually 10 seconds, and reads the voltage under that stress. It is the standard workshop method for judging whether a lead-acid battery can actually deliver cranking power, not just show a healthy resting voltage.

Which battery tester is best for a truck or commercial vehicle workshop?

The BCT-700 HRD. Its 450A setting covers 150–200Ah truck and bus batteries, while the 100A, 175A and 300A settings handle cars, SUVs and inverter batteries — one tester for the whole workshop floor.

Can one tester cover bikes, cars and trucks?

Yes — that is the point of the selectable load. Use 100A for small car and eBike batteries, 175A for large cars and SUVs, 300A for inverter and e-rickshaw blocks, and 450A for truck and commercial batteries.

Is COD available? What about UPI?

Yes — both Cash on Delivery and UPI are accepted across India. The price is ₹11,211 with GST included and free delivery.
