How to use the BCT-700
- Ensure the battery is reasonably charged and at rest (no load for a few minutes).
- Connect clamps firmly: Red to + and Black to − on the battery terminals.
- Select the appropriate load:
- 100A – small cars up to ~60Ah.
- 175A – sedans / compact SUVs.
- 300A – larger SUVs / inverter batteries.
- 400A – heavy duty / high CCA batteries.
- Hold the load switch for around 10 seconds while watching the LED voltmeter.
- Use the reading plus the status LED (Green / Yellow / Red) to decide if the battery is Good, Weak or Replace.

Which load setting should I use?
As a simple thumb rule: 100A for small hatchbacks (≤~60Ah), 175A for typical sedans and compact SUVs, 300A for larger SUVs and inverter batteries, and 400A for heavy-duty or high CCA batteries. If you are unsure, start with a lower setting and increase if needed.
Can I test 24V truck batteries with BCT-700?
No, the BCT-700 is made for 12V batteries only. For 24V trucks that use two 12V batteries in series, disconnect and test each battery individually at 12V.
What battery types are supported?
The BCT-700 supports 12V lead-acid batteries used in automotive and inverter applications: flooded, AGM and EFB. For lithium batteries, use lithium-specific test methods.
How long should I hold the load?
For most cases, a 10-second load is enough. Watch the digital voltmeter – a healthy battery will hold voltage under load. A sharp drop indicates a weak or failing battery.
